The Vietnam Maritime Administration rehearses to prevent and combat terrorism at Tien Sa port, Da Nang city

On the morning of August 30, 2017, the Vietnam Maritime Administration presided over and coordinated with relevant agencies and units of the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defense and the People's Committee of Da Nang City to conduct a terrorist prevention exercise. and ensure seaport security at Tien Sa port, Da Nang city. Attending and directing the rehearsal were Member of the Party's Civil Affairs Committee, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Van Cong, Director of Vietnam Maritime Administration Nguyen Xuan Sang, Head of the Training Steering Committee, along with nearly 300 officers and soldiers of the armed forces People's page of 09 units of the Department of Counterterrorism - Ministry of Public Security, Police of Da Nang city, Police of fire prevention and fighting of Da Nang city, Vietnam Coast Guard Command, Military Command Da Nang City, Da Nang City Border Guard Command and officers, civil servants and officials of the maritime industry (Vietnam Maritime Administration, Danang Maritime Port Administration, Center for Search and Rescue Coordination maritime accidents of Vietnam, Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company) and Da Nang City Department of Health; The vehicles mobilized are specialized equipment and means of the forces participating in the exercise, with more than 100 port enterprises, agencies and agencies in localities nationwide and more than 10 central media. local authorities attended and reported on the exercise.

The rehearsal content consists of 2 parts: Rehearsal of operating information mechanism, reporting and rehearsal to handle terrorist hostage situations; conducting bomb and mine clearance; arresting terrorist objects at sea and fire fighting, rescue and rescue.

After more than 2 hours of implementation, the rehearsal for preventing and combating terrorism and ensuring seaport security at Tien Sa Port, Da Nang City was successful, achieving the objectives and requirements; forces participating in the exercise have closely followed the content of the script and have adjusted to suit the practical situation.

Director Nguyen Xuan Sang, Director of the Rehearsal Steering Committee emphasized “The purpose of the exercise is to inspect and evaluate the implementation of the International Law on Ship and Harbor Security (ISPS Code); ability to coordinate, organize the command and direction; the ability to secure information, communication, and logistics; combat plans and skills, practice of using specialized equipment in handling terrorism situations in the maritime domain to supplement and complete the plan for preventing and combating terrorism close to the reality of the maritime domain. ".

 

Attending and directing at the rehearsal, Mr. Nguyen Van Cong, Deputy Minister of Transport, commented that this is the fourth time, the Ministry of Transport has instructed the Vietnam Maritime Administration to organize a large-scale drills with participation in combat cooperation of many ministries, departments at the central level as well as agencies and units under it. The Deputy Minister also highly appreciated the practice situation in accordance with the reality, the results of the exercise have contributed to raising awareness for maritime officers and employees. At the same time, he also said that, in the coming time, the world situation will continue to develop complicatedly, ensuring maritime security in general is very heavy, difficult and complicated. 

In order to ensure a safe, secure and stable environment for socio-economic development, to prevent terrorism, unexpected and unexpected occurrence, Comrade Nguyen Van Cong suggested: Vietnam Maritime Administration should continue to promote the leading role, raise proper awareness about the importance of ensuring seaport security, proactively review, amend, and strictly implement seaport security in accordance with the provisions of the ISPS Code; The Maritime Port Authorities regularly inspect and guide seaports in the area of ​​the seaport security assessment, on that basis, in coordination with the relevant forces to develop and organize rehearsal of response plans, proactively and promptly handle possible security threats that may occur. judgments against terrorism at seaports; The Vietnam Maritime Administration coordinates with relevant units to develop documentary films about the exercise to serve the research and training of functional forces.

At the same time, it is requested that functional units of the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Defense and the Vietnam Maritime Administration strengthen coordination, information exchange and implementation of measures to ensure security and order in water areas. seaports meet the requirements and tasks set out in the current situation; Recommend that the People's Committee of Da Nang city continues to pay attention to supporting and directing departments and agencies to closely coordinate with the Maritime Port Administration to drastically implement solutions to ensure absolute security and safety of Tien Sa port next time.

 

At the end of the rehearsal, in order to demonstrate the training spirit of the 09 units participating in the exercise, the director of the Vietnam Maritime Administration, the head of the Training Steering Committee Nguyen Xuan Sang and the Deputy Director of the Vietnam Maritime Administration, the deputy director The rehearsal steering committee Nguyen Hoang awarded certificates of merit and gifts to individuals and units participating in the rehearsal.
